Run for the Cure Screening Program
The Run for the Cure® Foundation, in conjuction with our partner hospitals, funds mammography screenings. Unfortunately in Japan, preventive screenings are not covered by the National Heath Insurance system. Through the RFTC screening
program, some 4,000 women will benefit through funded mammograms.
Educational Initiatives
The Foundation provided a grant to the Japan Society of Breast Health for training seminars for 400 local and industrial nurses on the importance of breast self-examination, and we donated 50 breast model kits with training DVDs in Japanese.
The St. Luke's College of Nursing received funding for a breast cancer awareness program for lactating women whose babies are weaning, plus 2,000 illustrated booklets on the proper way to self-examine.
